Hi,

We can't find any reference to the bboard alerts in OACS 4.5 and 4.6.

Those files was in the packages/bboard/www directory of a OACS 3.x installation.

Was removed or superseded this functionality by any reason?

It's present in the actual bboard for openacs.org for this forum

Take a look at the notifications package.  It does support
this (forums on dev.openacs.org uses it).
