Forum OpenACS Q&A: Anybody tried Bochs as a replacement for VMWare

As quite a few people here are using VMware with its $300 price tag, I wondered if anyone has used Bochs http://bochs.sourceforge.net/ which is Open-Source Free software instead? I intend to have a play myself this weekend, but if there are any issues I need to be aware I would like to know.

Regards,

John

John,

What is it that you're trying to do?

Is this for running the Openacs stack on Windows?  Or for sandboxing it on Linux?

There might be an easier way to do what you want.

Also,  if you do try Bochs I'd be interested in hearing about your experiences.

A bit of both, I currently have my main machine triple booted with winxp, win2k and redhat 8.0. I have a remote server also for my company, but I would like to run a mirror under win2k and generaly just play around with bochs under linux, as it is far more stable on my machine than the MS/OS.
I will be playing around with bochs today and will let you know how it goes.
