I've created a web services package for openacs using nsjava and apache axis. If you would like to try it out, you can download it
here. This is still some what experimental, so I'm not going to import it into cvs until I've had a chance to create a few web service applications and evaluate the current functionality. I've tested with the following sample web services in the Axis distro: Address Book, Attachments, Bid Buy, Echo, and Encoding.
For a simple web service application, I'm currently considering creating a news-feed package that can be used to replicate news items to other sites that are registered to receive news feeds, and I'm also considering integration of dotLRN with uPortal via web-service based channel.
