Forum OpenACS Q&A: segv in aolserver3.3ad13 on redhat 8.0

I have a fresh install of aolserver 3.3 ad 13 on redhat 8.0.

I am getting a segv inside nsd/cache.c.  Somehow the cache structures have become corrupt.

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

What is the general reputation of aolserver 3.3 ad 13 on redhat 8.0?

And what is the difference in general between 3.3 ad13 and 3.2 ad12?

And um, how come an openacs.org search of redhat 8.0 turns up nothing, whereas a search of redhat turns up lots of stuff, esp. lots of stuff that contains redhat 8.0?!?

Thanks,

Jerry,
I am using Aolserver ad33.13 with your nsvhr patches on Redhat 8.0 and it all works perfectly. I have multiple nsds running - one as proxy and the others as individual sites. I have never seen the error that you describe. (I assume that it would appear in the log files or at the command line?)

Hello Jerry,

I am using RedHat 8 and AOLServer 3.3.1+ad13 on a development server and I don't have the problem you describe. We make quite a lot of use of ns_cache in our development but so far, no errors like this reported.

Strange indeed.... Have you compiled ns_cache yourself?
