Hello Tom,
I find these comments very sad for a few reasons.
- they are not based on reality
- your comments would imply that if we pay a gatekeeper we could get any shit code into the core
First of all, the comments from Don portrait quite well what is the reality and I can also tell you that Greenpeace is not interested in making OpenACS a Greenpeace-specific framework, on the contrary! We are firm believers in the value of open source and I think that we have shown it so far, if not look as well at the co-funding of Worflow with MIT and Heilderberg and other projects in which we are involved.
If your comments were true then we would have added all the custom made code that we have added to the request processor just to suit our needs.
On a personal note, I have used ad_form without the need to have more documentation than the source code. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying with this that it's the best documentation ever made available to mankind, but I am saying that the comments are usable and with that you can make use of ad_form.
Having said all that, I do believe in documenting code and I agree that we have to do our best to have high quality docs with the toolkit but this type of rant is not good for the community.
This is my personal opinion and doesn't reflect necessarily an organizational position.
