I don't think that functionality is currently built into file-storage. However, it seems like it would be a very easy change to make.
You'd just make it so that only people with read permissions could see the file-storage items.
If you add this in, perhaps you could have a parameter that describes the behavior. This could be a useful addition to file-storage.
