The new motherboard from Dell arrived earlier than expected. I tried
it, and... Exact same problem as before. Lots of errors in memtest
86 tests # 3 and 4, then it freezes up entirely at "Pass 15% Test 7%"
on test 4.
I've emailed the guy who wrote/maintains
memtest86,
as I'm wondering if maybe the hardware is ok and memtest86 has some
bug/interaction with it. Either way, it's awfully annoying, and
argues against using PowerWedge servers. :(
Other than that, I guess it's possible that the cpu is bad, but that
seems unlikely given the identical symptoms Jonathan reported, etc.
