Summary of 7/17/2003 meeting

The meeting is the first meeting on IRC for CMS. It has been agreed that Content Repository (CR) will still be the main architecture to base the new CMS. It has also been agreed that the current CMS will not be upgraded. However several code/module from the current CMS will be taken. Such as generating forms based from the content type.

There is also 3 main concerns that we are dealing with. Some people are more concerned with one, 2 or all. These concerns are:

  1. Adding to the CR or making a base CMS that is good. And can be reused by another or varying CMS.
  2. Getting the future CMS done in a schedule that would not take too long. Having something workable as time and resources permit.
  3. Making the future CMS UI to be good.

The 3rd concern will be taken first as it has been agreed that the UI should drive the future CMS. Taking into consideration that we should use existing CR functionality. And added features must only be really needed features. So we can meet the 2nd concern, which is to deliver something that is workable.

Output of 7/17/2003 meeting

A UI group has been formed which should hopefully drive the discussion on the next meeting.
