It used to be a part of the release process to regenerate the docs fromt he source and commit that. Then that was updated on https://openacs.org/doc/ and the previous version doc was put in a directory like https://openacs.org/doc/5-1

I am not sure how much of that is still done. If noone has actually edited the docbook in a long time, it won't really help.

I regenerate them for the tarball. Finals only, not alpha or beta.

I've not taken on the task of updating the online docs, that's a rather large hole in the process, I guess.
