Forum OpenACS Development: Do we really need personal calendar notifications?

Hi all,

I fail to see the point to receive an email notification when I add an event in my personal calendar as you are the only one who can update that calendar and surely you short time memory is not that bad.

Can anybody show me what Personal calendar notifications are needed for?

Maybe we should just remove the possibility of requesting notifications on your own calendar.

What do you think?

It would be useful, if someone else would able to add entries to your personal calendar. In my opinion, the concept of having a single calendar instance in dotlrn as a "shared personal calendar" for everybody with the private-flag etc. was not a good design choice.
Then, I think that for now we should keep notifications on personal calendar. However we have to fix the permissions issue for next release.
It has been fixed by design (no more notification for personal calendar) on the oacs-5-3 branch.
