When I do a search on openacs.org
I get the message "Not yet
implemented with postgres".

What is the status and when will
this great feature be implemented?

Could you add search capability to OpenACS with http://htdig.org's GPLed engine? What sort of things should we think about when making the two (OpenACS+htdig) work well together?

That appears to search HTML and text via poking via an http connection, not a very efficient way to implement a search engine that  operates on a database.

On the other hand, some of the pieces might be usable if we can't get PLS open-sourced.
