You may want to track the mod_aolserver project too. mod_aolserver for Apache exist to pump up the Apache API to the level of what the AOLserver C API can do. The plan seems to be that someone will want to make the tcl interp modules for Apache wrapper around mod_aolserver instead of the default Apache api. And after that people interested could do the same for Perl (mod_perl) I suppose. Tracking that possible mating between Perl and mod_aolserver could give you something to compare with while designing and enhancing your perl plug-in for AOLserver. Just a random thought. Has anyone looked at ns_xml for Apache? Which XML engine is it based on? Is it fast?
