I see that openacs.org has a search function, and when I search
for "search" I get a long list of results but nothing is returned
when I click on any of them (I tried dozens)- for instance

My goal is to give my first demo of 3.2.4 with text search ability
next Monday - and I need to understand the search function first.

Strange, I just tried the URL you give above and got the thread, as expected, and tried searching myself and clicking on the returned links with no problem.

I don't know why it wasn't working for you, perhaps you should try again?

This smells like a bug to me. URLs like:
https://openacs.org/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=0000bv
(without the additional attributes) give an access denied error
to users who aren't logged in. Most people here probably don't
notice because they're logged in most of the time. Someone
want to track this down and stick it in the SDM?

what Aaron says is true, when you are not logged in sometimes you get an error, for example if I want to post an answer not loged in I got an error...
