1: symlinking from /web/$server/users to /home?

A friend wants a shell account on my machine so he can have an easier
time uploading files to his page on my OpenACS system.  The web
interface takes much too long as there are so many steps.  Would it
make sense to create a symlink from /web/mammalia/users/$userid to
say, /home/$user/website?  If I do that, do I need to modify
permissions?

I did the same thing, and as long as the user is in the web group,
it should work fine.
