Forum .LRN Q&A: Article opportunity for the community

The Journal (see http://www.thejournal.com) has a call for papers out for its September issue, due 8/1/04, that is very relevant for .LRN.  See

http://www.thejournal.com/business/media/ecal.cfm

Who wants to volunteer to write for this?  Familiarity with the assessment package efforts would be especially relevant I think.  Don't have to be a programmer, just a decent writer with some time and energy.

Great opportunity for PR and for a collateral that could be reused...

Would appreciate hearing from anyone with past or current efforts to publish in any of these journals, or with any of the organizations also listed on this site:

Thanks.

Well, I guess that fits me (both assessment and previous article writings), if someone native English speaking is willing to correct the article.

Malte, I'm willing to help you with this. You concoct all the ideas, and I'll make all the grammatical errors. 😉

If anyone from Vienna is tracking this, your work would also make an excellent case study!

I was following up on Cesar's suggestion that someone write an article for this journal;

http://www.thejournal.com/

I found that as well as articles, we could actually do an 'application story' or as I would know it, a case study, which might actually be easier to write.

"Application stories are case histories of educational installations, reported from the point of view of the project leader or someone else closely involved in the activities."

If I was to write a story like this, who should I interview? Which university should I interview? (I'm tending to think it shouldn't be MIT prmiarliy but another institution. Ofcourse  the MIT connection will be raised and I'll get a fab quote from Al to slip into the whole article)  So, does anybody want to be interviewed?

Sorry that last post by Bruno Mattarollo was actually by Danielle Hickie. I wasn't, erhum, looking at who was logged in. Still interested in getting an interview though. :) (Apologies to Bruno.)

I'm working on a PowerPoint presentation on Implementing Dotlrn, would very much appreciate any comments or advice, and those working on articles/marketing are welcome to use any of it. It is the first link on my project page. I'll convert it to other formats over the weekend if someone is especially interested and doesn't have .ppt. PowerPointedly Yours, Bruce

I've now adapted my PowerPoint presentation to an article format and am looking for some help editing it: Integrating Dotlrn In Instruction. I've written it up close and personal, but I want to talk about real users and some concrete educational purposes and use the details of my FU implementation to lend some realism to the business. So, I didn't feel obliged to cover all the functionality: I want potential users and admin types who are worried about users to get an idea of how the thing is useful for instruction, outline briefly how amateurs like myself can get it going with some help, and make it sound like an adventure that will pay off. I think we might consider preparing a couple of other articles -- and I'm volunteering to continue working on this -- including one that discusses the assessment package and other things that people think need to be talked about. I'm assuming that someone reading my present article will, if interested, start poking around, and for that I think we prepare the more extensive reference/marketing base. But maybe people aren't comfortable with my style and think this particular journal might better be addressed differently?
