Forum .LRN Q&A: New dotlrn package for Chat
In University of Valencia we are integrated
the chat module in dot. The chat package is now
-chat: this is the standard package for postgres
with some modifications. We are changed the
release number of that package.
-Teachers can create rooms visible by default by
admins and students of his group.
-One user have a portlet with his chat rooms where
he have chat user permissions.
-Teacher and admins can add users to his rooms.
-It is for Postgres, convert to Oracle must be easily.
-We are cut some chat characteristics: we are disabled
html chat (It do not works) and moderation.
-Translated in Spanish, Catalan and English.
-Many bugs. I suppose it.
Are there anybody interested in our code?
Can I put in CVS?
(PS: If anybody want to test it in our development
plataform can use (for some days):
Darior University of Valencia
are you using jabber?
Also, I tried to login but says user or pass incorrect ...
can you try the again?
The count is correct:
For convert the package "chat" to portlet and applet for dotlrn we are follow the course "http://www.weg.ee.usyd.edu.au/courses/ebus5002/" by Rafael calvo.
The chat package used is "chat module 0.1"
I think is ok that you commit this on cvs.openacs.org ... just be sure that they are no naming conflict with the jabber module, that btw, should be moved to /packages
Galileo will use jabber, Malte, can you bring the code from concord to CVS?
Good news! Could you send your code to my e-mail while it is not in CVS? We are close to implement chat package posted by Rodrigo Proença in a live dotlrn install at www.cope.sede.embrapa.br and could apply your changes to test it for production.
At this moment you can get the full package in
Latest we'll put the code in CVS.
Furthermore the version was upgraded to 1.1b1.
I will add the compat and release tag once you can confirm it works :).
We are using the chat in our production system, although at the moment the professors don't use it.
