I agree to this. I think the other suggestions are useful, but this is a quick change. I would recommend also looking through at least the core packages to make sure the email isn't shown in them, and obeys this parameter. Perhaps you could file bugs and feature request against other packages to have them comply with this parameter?
Will this completely hide the email address, or will it just take out the end of it or something?
