Hi

Has anyone used openACS for managing campaigns/mailing lists.
A nonprofit I work with would like to have something like:
http://online.socialchange.net.au/client_solutions/solutions/interact.html

Because they provide social services in India, Sri Lanka and Burma they are trying to move forward quickly.

thanks

Rafael

from the website above:
Create instant campaign sites

Social Change Online's AIMS Campaign Management suite of content management tools allows you to easily and quickly create sites for your campaigns on-demand. With this suite you can build your campaign sites online but away from public view. Then when you're ready to go live you can switch on your campaign site with one easy step. You can also archive your campaign sites and hide them from public views just as easily.
Build site traffic with self managing e-news lists

Using e-news lists are an excellent way to build a relationship with your online audience. With our e-news solution you can publish your articles both to web and email in the one easy operation. You also don't have to worry about managing your subscriber lists: users can easily subscribe and unsubscribe themselves from your website.
Personalise your content for different audiences

Our AIMS content management system technology allows to provide filtered views of your content to your users. With AIMS you can classify your content according to match your target audiences. This means that you can personalise your content for your different target audiences. We also offer full site personalisation technology where users can log-in and select their own content preferences and site 'skins'.

Rafael,

You might want to take a look at the MLM that Malte built, the stuff that Caroline did for the congressional bid in Washington state or the Cyberactivist ToolKit that we recently finished for GPI (http://ctk.zill.net). The code should be available for all of these.

I can get you the code for the CTK at least.

The tools are there as Talli described. What I think is the major benefit though of AIMS is the fact that you can make use of these tools using an ASP.

OpenACS & .LRN in my opinion make considerably more sense when taking the whole needs of the NGO into account. They want to communicate with their stakeholders, run an Intranet, keep files safe, easily make content which they have inside their intranet available on the website aso. If you look at this, OpenACS has a lot to offer due to it's capabilities for Campaign (CTK) and Mailing (MLM) Management on the frontend, throw in XCMS (or ETP 😊 ) for public Website, use communities for the Intra-/Extranet and make the Intranet File-Storage available via WebDAV for storing your files on a secure place (assuming you host reliably).

Obviously you could add many more features there, but I just wanted to give you a picture.

Screen shots of the MLM as implemented for the political campaign site by Solution Grove are here:

A picture can be worth a thousand words. Please everyone, put up screen shots!

For the MLM you can find it at http://theservice.de/doc/mailing-lists/ (or any instance of openacs, as this is in the core documentation, taking into account you installed the package :)).

Furthermore, maybe GPI will allow the release of the specs for the CTK due to missing documentation in the sourcecode and the /doc directory.
