Hi,

Has anyone implemented a payment gateway for the Amazon.com payment service?

Does it need one?

Last I checked, Amazon handles the whole ecommerce process, one just has to import your products to their cart and link your items's "add to basket" to their cart.

Amazon has several features. One is flexible payment service which would be good for pretty much any payment use.

They also have a simple pay subscription which is good for recurring charges. This is the one we are most interested in initially. There is also amazon simple pay for individual transactions and amazon checkout.

It appears they have covered any possible payment scenerio.

Right. None of them need a payment gateway to work (afaict).

Wouldn't it be nice if OpenACS ecommerce packages evolved to offer similar features?

I find the current ecommerce package incomprehensible :) I'd rather build a simpler system that was easier to extend and work with based on the past 8 or 9 years if OpenACS development.

My ultimate goal woudl be a way to purchase any acs_object and seperate facility to track payments etc. Sounds like a dream, maybe someday.

We actually used the amazon web store so we did not complete any amazon integration.
