Forum OpenACS Q&A: Re: Will Dr. OpenACS survive? Or why I stopped worrying and learned to love the .LRN consortium?

Don: "I can see the practical fallout of the SCO lawsuit - which has the fingerprints of MS help all over it - being a slowdown of adoption of Open Source software by the timid. But the consolidation argument doesn't necessarily follow from this at all."

My argument about consolidation has nothing to do with the SCO lawsuit or FUD. I am claiming, on the contrary, that it follows from maturity and success of open source, namely that it's now an accepted market phenomenon. Markets don't tolerate an infinite array of products in a particular space. Very quickly a handful of incumbents emerge.
