Forum .LRN Q&A: .LRN/OpenACS Meetings in Madrid, May 9-11 2005 -- UPDATE

I hope we'll get as many of you as possible to Madrid on May 9-10th for the annual OpenACS/ .LRN Global User Group Meetings. This year they are being held in coordination with the first annual Spanish forum on .LRN and free software for E-Learning, which runs May 10th and 11th. See http://www.it.uc3m.es/dotlrn2005/ for information on both (you can register for the User Group Meetings on May 9-10 at http://dotlrn.org/events/management/event-info?event%5fid=72192).

A suggested agenda for .LRN meetings on May 9-10:

-1130: user presentations -- what they're doing with the software
-1230: lunch -- speaker TBD
-1400: more user presentations; siesta for those who wish to observe local customs
-1700: tapas/ drinks
-2100: dinner (details to follow)

Tuesday

-0900: contributor presentations -- what they're doing
-1000: discussion panels -- what could be/ should be in future releases? when? how will we make sure they get in?
-1230: synthesis presentation for comment by .LRN board)
-1400: breakouts...

Logistics:

A hotel option:

NOVOTEL MADRID PUENTE DE LA PAZ (****)
C/ ALBACETE 1
Tel + 34 91 724 76 01
Fax +34 91 724 76 10
10 minutes walking from Telefónica I+D or Bus nº 53

We are researching other options as well.

Comments and suggestions welcome! In particular, we are interested in presentations as described above...

One further question. Will the bugbash take place as well on the 11th?

Furthermore, it seems that the English and Spanish part both happen on the 10th. Are the respective agendas being coordinated?

Last but not least who is coordinating the speakers (and whom should I talk to about giving a presentation myself).

Kind of OT, but I uploaded the PDFs of the projects we are presenting in the 'Foro hispano' at:

cheers

Malte,

There are two sets of workshops. The .LRN Users' Group Meeting is May 9th & 10th. The bulk of the presentations will be scheduled on the 9th and we will try to make sure that the sessions in English on 10th don't overlap with the second workshop below. We are still accepting presentation topics for the .LRN Users' Group Meeting. If you are interested, please let me know.

The other workshop is Foro hispano de .LRN y software libre educativo and will take place on May 10th & 11th. Deadline for paper submission was February 28th.

Hope that helps.
