I am at the early stages of designing an application for funding to build a portal based on OpenACS/.LRN for an Open Access natural sciences journal that currently has 5,000 users and is seeking to integrate an open source content repository system such as EPrints with a learning management system. A part of this would include a workflow for authoring/editing/publishing for data input. I would be grateful to learn if anyone has investigated EPrints/.LRN integration, and/or might have an opinion about what might be involved, and/or might have examined this in the context of a comparison with DSpace or other content repositories designed for scientific publications and/or know of some one/institution that may be anticipating such a project.
