Forum OpenACS Q&A: Postgres 7.13 or 7.2 for a fresh 4.5beta install?

Hi all,

It's really exciting to see the 4.5 beta finally up (been holding off
installing til now). A big thanks to everyone for their hard work.
Now that I have some more time, I'm going to install and start
playing with it - hopefully I can contribute in some small way.

Question - in the install docs, it refers to pg 7.13. Other threads
talk about installing 7.2 and some quirks with that (and that the
quirks were being worked on). At this point, what is the
recommendation for version to install/pros and cons. Is it a big deal
to install 7.2 as in a previous thread (didn't find it on a quick
search unfortunately)?

Thanks a bunch!

I haven't pushed 7.2 extensively, but I am now using it and its ok.

As for installing it... absolute doddle.... no problems there.

I had minor problems with installing the 6 March nightly tarball over 7.2, but I had never isntalled ACS before and so my own skill level may have accounted for most of it, the community helped, and I believe that the docs were modified in a couple of cases based on my experience. And I don't think any of it related to 7.2.
