To further the discussion...

It seems that the situation calls for an RDBMS for serving dynamic pages fast, and an OO system for managing content (and revisions) prior to the content being served "live" from the RDBMS/OpenACS. That's two different systems for two different purposes.

[Hmm.. maybe that is what's happening and I just didn't get "it" until now... or maybe I got it before and just forgot in the confusion???]

[Thinking outloud futher...] then objects are either 1. converted to file-references in the DB and content served from files, or 2. content is imported to the DB then served...

The questions become: When to convert or import? and How to standardize these processes in the new version???
