Forum .LRN Q&A: Class Signup Feature

Collapse

I am looking at implementing a solution like dotLRN but one of the requirements that my steering committe has is that it provide a portal for students to signup for classes via the web. I hadn't been able to find any information about that in dotLRN feature pages and was wondering if anyone knows if this is avaliable.

Jarred, we have created a registration system that works with .LRN (it also has an ecommerce function). It will not be included in .LRN 2.2 (we have to generalize and clean up the code a bit). It is in use at the Museum of Science and Partners Healthcare. Heidelberg Medical school is in the process of implementing this package as well.

I am happy to give you an account on our development machine if you want to test it. The code is in the OpenACS CVS.

Hi Jarred,

You can see the Museum of Science in action at:

We have a discussion of features with screen shots of some of the admin screens on our site:

Caroline,

This looks pretty good and I would like some more information if possible. The one other item that we need that may be unique to us is stakeholder reporting. I am in charge of a distance learning network in Colorado involving about 20 different schools, we need to be able to provide the administrators of those schools access and control over their school’s registration data. If this sounds like something that could be implemented I would like the chance to talk further. Let me know
