As I haven't used this feature before and a client is asking me about
it I thought I might ask:  Has anyone used it (with Open ACS 4.5) and
does it work?  Any other observations?

It used to be ok with Classic ACS 4.x, but thats going back a bit now. I haven't tried it on 4.5, but I see no reason why it
shouldn't (assuming no-one know differently)

Can someone describe this functionality? What is it that is being clustered? ... the AOLServers, the OpenACS instance(s), or the RDBMS? Can you please provide some links to where documentation exists on this topic.

I was talking about the web servers.  I can't find a huge amount of documentation.  There is a section for "server-cluster" in the "acs-admin" ... "acs-kernel"
