Forum OpenACS Q&A: What happened to the AOLServer RPMs?

Hi everybody,

we (the Project/Open team) are currently trying to wrap up our new Version 3.0 (now fully supports PostresSQL) and to create installers for SuSE, RedHat and Win32.

Checking for RPMs (particularly for AOLServer) we've found:
https://openacs.org/forums/message-view?message_id=28452
However, the RPM download link is dead:
http://www.xc.org/jonathan/openacs/openacs4-rpm-based-install.html

We've also found:
https://openacs.org/forums/message-view?message_id=69410
However, Google had no idea where to find this aolserver-3.3.1-2+ad13.i386.rpm. Also, I'm not sure whether this RPM contains tDom and the other necessary modules.

Any hints?

Our goal is to create one or two Linux distros consisting of two or three RPMs, so that installing OpenACS becomes as simple as issuing "rpm -i ...":
- RPM1: AOLServer, all the necessary modules. I think we should not include daemontools because of the overhead for beginngers (the was some discussion recently). Instead, we would probably need a start script and directions for addin a line in /etc/inittab.
- RPM2: OpenACS, the GPLed Project/Open modules.
- Optionally RPM3: Some PostgreSQL database content to create a predefined sample web site. I'm not sure, maybe we could include a PG dump? Project/Open offers the import of all business objects from .CSV files

Loads of things to do... This is the goal, but maybe we will have to retract a bit and provide a pragmatic alternative that requires bit more manual work.

Bests,
Frank
