Does anyone have a good solution to the problem of users typing in their company name inconsistently? We need to be able to search on past employer and we want to avoid things like "ATT" being different from "AT&T".

Any solutions people have implemented?

I have a couple of strategies.  Filtering all non-alphanumeric characters and soundex matching.  Not perfect but seems to be pretty good.
