Forum .LRN Q&A: Setup new dotLRN - which packages do I need?

Hi,

I managed to install OpenACS and everythings seems to be up and running. But now I'm stuck. How do I proceed to get a beautiful, nice application like on www.dotlrn.org? There seems to be no instruction around, right? Which packages do I need? How do I build up the site-map?

On www.dotlrn.org it says: "Out of the box, .LRN comes with the following applications:" http://dotlrn.org/photo-album/index?folder_id=121698
How do I put these together now?

Thanks for every hint. :)
Greetings,
Katrin

Hi,

I'd recommend you install the dotlrn tarball (last version is 2.3.0) and follow the instructions at https://openacs.org/xowiki/%2eLRN_Installation#install-tarball

Hi Kati -

This might help also:

You have to pick which packages you want to install on your instance of .LRN.
Basically it involves 2 steps:

1. Installing the package you would like on your site.
See here:
https://openacs.org/doc/openacs-5-2/configuring-install-packages.html

2. Mounting the package to a URL via the site-map
See here:
https://openacs.org/doc/openacs-5-2/configuring-mounting-packages.html

I think these are mostly accurate. Don't hesitate to ask if you
get stuck.
