Forum OpenACS Q&A: ]po[ and .LRN together

Collapse
Posted by Mário Olímpio de Menezes on
Hi,

I'm new to OpenACS. I've installed it in my personal machine (Debian testing) to try .LRN.

I would like to know if is it possible to install ]po[ together and have dotlrn working at the same time?

Sorry if this is basic, but I'm really new (1 week now) to aolserver, OpenAcs and Dotlrn.

Thanks

Yes, this is possible and I did it once. It does not work out of the box though if I remember correctly, as you need to figure out whom to give precedence when calling the site (as both claim this for themselves). There might also be an issue with the custom-master, but it should be resolved if you are using ]po[ 3.4 (and make sure you do that).

]Project-Open[ has a lot of resources, as well as documentation, http://www.project-open.com/
You can check the sourceforge page: https://sourceforge.net/projects/project-open/for downloads and forums: https://sourceforge.net/p/project-open/discussion/295937/

You have a demo server where you can try out the code: https://demo.project-open.net/

Hi Mário,

Thanks to a project at ILO/ISSA, it's now possible to install the ]po[ packages on top of an existing OpenACS 5.3/5.4 system.

There may be "minor" problems with the SQL installation scripts. These issues may exist (I don't believe they exist at this moment...) because we don't test the "installation from scratch" every time we do a little SQl upgrade.

Please make sure you take V3.4.0.5 or higher from CVS.

Cheers!
Frank

Hi Frank,

Thanks for your info.

I'll try to understand the tutorial you've posted; I just skimmed over it and saw I need more understanding of the overall system: AOLServer, OpenACS, package installation process, filesystem hierarchy and customization.

Best regards!

Mário
